The Animal Portrait Process
Buying a custom-made work of art should be a pleasant experience and I will work with you to create the picture you want. If you are not pleased with the finished portrait, you are not obligated to buy it.
The best approach is to work from photographs taken by the artist, with a final visit to the studio or to the animal to confirm that the personality has been captured. This process allows for an accurate portrait portrayal.
My time to take photos and meet the subject are included in the pricing. Travel beyond central Kentucky may be billed as an expense.
If the animal is not available for photos, provide several clear, candid photographs to help show the personality of the animal, with views from different angles and at least one photograph in the desired pose (photos will be returned to you).
In addition, a one or two paragraph description of the animal’s personality and defining characteristics would be helpful in producing a true portrait of your beloved animal companion.
Lead time from receipt of photographs to completed portrait is about eight weeks.
My prices are reasonable; an uncomplex 8” x 10” animal head portrait in oil starts at $300. Prices will vary based on the size and detail requested. Contact me to discuss turning your ideas into a work of art you will treasure.
